rebuilding and recovery efforts. They are especially to help unemployed
Katrina victims land new jobs in any state or gain temporary employment
income, by helping in the Katrina clean-up, rebuilding and recovery efforts
in the affected states.

unemployment offices never charge fees for filing unemployment
claims or for providing job listings. (Most job

in cooperation with state unemployment
offices and One-Stop Career Centers.
CareerBuilder now has a special Katrina
Jobs section to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina in landing new
jobs anywhere in the U.S. Employers may post Katrina jobs for free. CareerBuilder
is typically one of the most
popular job banks and offers a variety of free services to all job
seekers. It lists U.S. jobs of all types.
CoolWorks is hosting an online Katrina
Job Fair of sorts, where employers in various states are offering
jobs and housing assistance to workers who were displaced by Hurricane
Katrina. CoolWorks is a job bank that lists seasonal jobs.
Yahoo! HotJobs has a special Katrina
Jobs page to search for recovery, clean-up and other jobs in the
disaster areas of Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. It also includes
jobs for Katrina-dislocated workers who evacuated to Texas. Employers
may post Katrina jobs for free. Yahoo! HotJobs is typically among the top
job banks and offers a variety of free services to all job seekers.
Monster.com has established a Disaster
Relief Job Board to help survivors, volunteers, private-
and public-sector employers, and volunteer organizations rebuild
the communities and lives affected by Hurricane Katrina. Employers may
post Katrina jobs for free. Despite its funny name, Monster is one the top
job banks globally.
The Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is hiring at this writing. FEMA
is a branch of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is the government
agency that is leading Katrina clean-up, rebuilding, and recovery efforts.
FEMA jobs are hosted by USA Jobs, the official, central job bank for

America will work with Katrina unemployed victims to gather their
information over the phone, if they can't provide it by way of the Internet.
The number to call is 866-383-5193. Insource America is an Information
Technology (IT or computer) job bank that is trying to thwart overseas
outsourcing, by providing IT workers to U.S. employers at costs comparable
to outsourcing.
CraigsList is
listing quite a few Katrina relief resources, including jobs. Click a city
to get started.
Educators from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama who evacuated to Georgia
because of Hurricane Katrina, may seek educational job opportunities through TeachGeorgia.
Jobs 4 Katrina is
dedicated exclusively to helping Katrina-unemployed victims land jobs.
It was launched by Chandler Hill Partners, a Job Search and Career Advancement
Firm.
Careers
After Katrina is a special placement program by National Executive
Personnel, to help convenience store workers and others displaced by
Hurricane Katrina land new jobs. National Executive Personnel is an executive
search firm for North American and European job seekers and employers,
with a focus on the convenience store and petroleum industries.
The Shaw
Group is assisting FEMA and other governmental agencies in Hurricane
Katrina recovery efforts. It encourages subcontractors and workers skilled
in construction, service or recovery operations, to apply for its hurricane-recovery
projects. The Shaw Group is a global provider of emergency response services,
headquartered in Louisiana.
Volunteers
For Careers is providing free, basic resume and cover letter writing,
job searching, and career transition assistance to Hurricane Katrina
victims. It is an organization of volunteer career professionals.
Hurricane
Job Hunter volunteers are helping hurricane victims write resumes
and cover letters. They also try to connect victims with employers. Launched
by Danny Glover, a journalist in Washington, DC.
State unemployment
offices and Career One Stop Centers in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana,
Mississippi and Texas are listing Katrina clean-up and recovery jobs
at this writing, as well as all other available jobs. Unemployment offices
and One Stops in other states that
are voluntarily helping Katrina-displaced workers are doing the same.
Although it has yet to post a related message or link at this writing,
CollegeGrad said in a press release that it will list staff jobs and volunteer
opportunities at no charge, for any nonprofit agency providing relief to
Katrina victims. Interested nonprofit agencies may contact CollegeGrad.
